St. Estevam Fort ( Jua / Juvem Fort ) - History details

On Santo Estêvão (Jua) Island in the Mandovi estuary, this small Portuguese hill fort—expanded by the late 17th century and often dated to 1668—guarded upriver approaches to Old Goa. Its triangular plan, moat traces and hilltop vantage give sweeping views; a modern Christ‑the‑King statue crowns the ridge. Feast of St Stephen is observed on the island on Dec 26.
