Palolem Beach, Goa - History details

Palolem, a crescent‑shaped bay in Canacona, rose to global fame by the 1990s yet retains calm waters and coconut groves. The beach, about 1.6 km long, faces Canacona Island (Butterfly). Winters (Nov–Mar) bring dolphin trips and kayaks; ‘silent noise’ headphone parties emerged in the 2000s. The shoreline is shallowest in the north, historically used by fishing communities.
