Church Of The Cross Of Miracles - History details

On Monte de Boa Vista above Old Goa, a cross reportedly grew miraculously on Feb 23, 1619, leading the Archbishop Dom Cristóvão de Sá e Lisboa (1613–1622) to recognize the phenomena and institute a feast; a church was built (1619), rebuilt 1671/1674, later falling to ruins. The miraculous cross was transferred to Sé Cathedral in the 19th century. The feast on/around Feb 23 still draws devotees.
