Sabarmati Ashram - History details

Founded in 1917 on the Sabarmati River’s banks, this ashram was Mahatma Gandhi’s base for major movements, including the 1930 Dandi March. Its riverside geography offered quiet and self‑sustaining farmland. Exhibits include Gandhi’s cottage, letters and spinning wheels. Special date: 12 March is commemorated annually as the Dandi March anniversary.
