Rani Ki Vav - History details

Commissioned in the 11th century by Queen Udayamati in memory of King Bhima I, this UNESCO‑listed stepwell sits near the Saraswati River in Patan. Its seven tiers contain over 500 sculptures depicting Vishnu’s avatars. Rediscovered after 1940s excavations, it showcases Maru‑Gurjara artistry.
