A scenic valley above Patratu Dam (planned under Sir M. Visvesvaraya in the 1960s) on the Chotanagpur plateau. Serpentine Kanke–Patratu road offers panoramic views; boating available at the reservoir. Best time October–March. Patratu is a census town in Ramgarh district, ~35–40 km from Ranchi.
