Madha ( Madhav ) Vav - Wadhwan - History details

Built in 1294 CE by minister brothers Madhav and Keshav during Vaghela king Karandev II’s reign, this six‑storeyed stepwell in Wadhwan runs east–west with pavilion towers and screens. Folklore speaks of a royal couple’s self‑sacrifice to bring water, a tale still sung locally. The ASI‑listed monument illustrates late‑medieval Gujarati stepwell engineering.
