Chatra Forest Range - History details

Part of Chatra South Forest Division (created after the 1962 split of the old Chatra Division), the range spans sal‑bamboo uplands, plateaus and valleys across North Chotanagpur. Forest produce includes kendu leaves and medicinal plants; wildlife extends into the Lawalong Wildlife Sanctuary (notified 1978). Villages, ridges and seasonal streams pattern this largely rural, heavily forested district. [Source]
