Chandil Dam - History details

Multipurpose dam on the Subarnarekha River near Chandil town, built under the Subarnarekha Multipurpose Project. Located in Seraikela Kharsawan district, it is ~22 km from Jamshedpur and bordered by Dalma Hills. The structure is ~720 m long and ~56.5 m high with a large reservoir (gross ~1,963 MCM). Popular for boating and a nearby museum displaying ~2,000‑year‑old rock scripts.
