Beyt Dwarka ( Bet Dwarka ) - History details

An inhabited island off Okha in the Gulf of Kutch, Bet Dwarka—also called Shankhodhar—is linked with Krishna’s residence and identified with Mahabharata’s Antardvipa. Excavations and offshore work have yielded Late Harappan and Mauryan‑period remains; in 2024 access improved with the Sudarshan Setu bridge. Janmashtami draws large crowds; winter seas are calm for visits.
