Nehru Park, Hirakud - History details
Nehru Park is part of the Hirakud Dam tourism zone. The dam began construction in 1947, with Jawaharlal Nehru laying the first concrete on 12 April 1948 and inaugurating it in 1957. The adjacent Jawahar and Gandhi Minars overlook the world’s longest earthen dam. A ropeway connects visitors to panoramic viewpoints.
