Kundala Dam - History details

Kundala Dam near Munnar, built in 1946 as part of Kerala’s first hydroelectric project, is considered Asia’s first arch dam. Surrounded by shola forests and tea gardens, it forms the scenic Kundala Lake where visitors enjoy pedal boating and shikara rides. The hills occasionally bloom with rare Neelakurinji flowers.
