Kadalur Point Lighthouse - History details

Commissioned 20 Oct 1909 to warn ships of Velliyamkallu (Sacrifice Rock), Kadalur Point Lighthouse near Koyilandy stands 34 m tall with black‑and‑white bands. Geography: a rocky promontory on the Panthalayani coast; focal plane 57 m, range ~23 nmi. Interesting: lens by Chance Brothers; electrified in 1995/1996 to metal‑halide. Special dates: late‑afternoon tower entry (closed Mon) often allowed.
