Budharaja Mandir - History details
Perched atop Budharaja Hill in Sambalpur, this Shiva shrine is linked by tradition to medieval Chauhan rulers (14th–15th c.). The hill commands views of Sambalpur and the distant Hirakud reservoir. Geography: tree‑clad slopes, a hilltop park and a new watchtower. Interesting dates: huge footfall on Maha Shivratri; Sital Sasthi festivities energise the precinct. Dawn and dusk are prized for photography and strolls.
