Aryankavu Ayyappan ( Sastha ) Temple - History details

On the Kollam side of the historic Schencottah Pass, Aryankavu’s Ayyappan Temple is among Kerala’s Pancha‑Sastha shrines and uniquely worships Ayyappa as Balasastha. Traditions attribute its consecration to Parashurama or a Pandya ruler, and Tamil‑style customs prevail. The main festival, Thiru Kalyanam, is performed on December 26 during the Mandala season. The temple stands near Shendurney forests and the popular Palaruvi Falls.
