The highest natural viewpoint in Hampi, Matanga Hill rises above the Tungabhadra valley, facing Virupaksha Temple on one side and Achyutaraya complex on the other. A short, steep stone path leads up the boulder massif for sweeping dawn and dusk panoramas of the Vijayanagara ruins. October–March skies are clearest; carry grip footwear and expect monkeys along the approach.
