Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary - History details

Kollam’s only wildlife sanctuary (172 sq km) in the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve, Shendurney was notified on 25 Aug 1984. Named after the endemic chenkurinji (Gluta travancorica), it harbours evergreen–semi‑evergreen forests, an 18.7 sq km reservoir linked to Thenmala, and fauna like lion‑tailed macaque. Eco‑packages include guided treks and reservoir boating.
