Sakthan Thampuran Palace - History details
In Thrissur’s heart stands the Kerala–Dutch style Sakthan Thampuran Palace, reconstructed in 1795 by Rama Varma Sakthan Thampuran (r. 1790–1805), the Cochin ruler who instituted the famed Thrissur Pooram. Converted to a museum in 2005, it preserves epigraphy, bronzes and numismatics amid a nālukettu plan and serpent grove. Timings are typically 09:30–16:30, closed Mondays, a short walk from Vadakkumnathan Temple.
