Pitalkhora Buddhist Caves - History details
The Pitalkhora Buddhist Caves are a complex of 14 rock-cut monuments dating to the 3rd century BCE, making them one of the earliest examples of rock-cut architecture in India. Carved into the Satmala Range in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) district, they are situated in a picturesque ravine with scenic waterfalls during the monsoon season.
