High above Munnar near Eravikulam NP, Pettimudi is remembered for the catastrophic 6 Aug 2020 landslide that destroyed tea‑estate layams and claimed 66 lives, with four missing, after extreme monsoon rainfall. Today, the hill sector remains a sombre landscape of shola slopes and plantations, approached only with local guidance and caution.
