Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary - History details

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary on the banks of Vembanad Lake in Kottayam spans 14 acres and is a major habitat for resident and migratory birds. Established from the old Baker Estate, it hosts species like herons, darters and Siberian visitors in winter. Its mangrove‑lined trails and backwater boat routes make it one of Kerala’s prime birdwatching destinations.
