Kapu ( Kaup ) Lighthouse - History details

Standing 27.12 metres atop a rocky headland near Kapu Beach, the lighthouse was built in 1901 during the British period to guide Arabian Sea traffic between Udupi and Mangaluru. Visitors climb a spiral stairway for sweeping coastal views, especially at sunset. Black horizontal bands mark the masonry tower. Usual visiting hours are late afternoons; access may close during heavy rains or rough seas for safety.
