International Coir Museum, Kalavoor - History details

Opened on May 27, 2014 by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the International Coir Museum at Kalavoor in Alappuzha chronicles Kerala’s signature fibre from retting pits and hand extraction to mechanisation under the Coir Board. Set beside Vembanad’s backwater corridor on the Alappuzha–Kochi highway, it welcomes visitors 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except Mondays and includes galleries of coir art and a souvenir outlet for crafts and mats.
