Gol Gumbaz - History details
A 17th‑century mausoleum in Bijapur, begun 1626 and completed 1656 for Sultan Mohammed Adil Shah. It features a 44‑m dome, one of world’s largest single chambers, made of basalt. Geography: Vijayapura plains. Special dates: 1626 start; 1656 completion.
