Gavimath Koppal - History details

Shri Gavisiddheshwara Matha in Koppal is an ancient Lingayat institution dating back eight to ten centuries. Founded under the spiritual guidance of H.H. Rudramuni Shivacharya, the matha is revered for promoting Trividha Dasoha—food, education, and spiritual knowledge. Its annual Maharathotsava held in the Pushya month attracts lakhs of devotees. The matha remains a major cultural, religious, and social center in northern Karnataka.
