Devanahalli Fort - History details
Built as a mud fort in 1501 by Malla Baire Gowda (Vijayanagara vassal), rebuilt in stone under Hyder Ali in the late 18th century. Captured by Lord Cornwallis in 1791 during the Anglo‑Mysore War. Geography: Bengaluru Rural, oval 20‑acre fort with 12 bastions; Tipu Sultan’s birthplace (1750/51) lies nearby.
