Chitradurga Fort - History details

Built between the 11th–18th centuries by Chalukyas, Hoysalas and expanded by Nayakas, this seven-walled granite fort spans hills overlooking Vedavati valley. Captured by Hyder Ali in 1779 and later the British, it features 18 temples and rainwater systems. Geography: rocky hills Chitradurga. Special dates: expansions 15th–18th c.
