Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary - History details

Declared Jagara Valley Sanctuary in 1951 and renamed Bhadra in 1974, this 892 sq km reserve in Chikkamagaluru spans the Baba Budan–Mullayanagiri ranges. In 1998 it became a Project Tiger reserve and is India’s first to complete full village relocation (2002). Geography: Western Ghats river valleys and peaks up to 1,875 m. Special dates: 1951, 1974, 1998.
