Bahmani Tombs, Bidar - History details
Built between 1436–1535 CE, the Bahmani Tombs form the royal necropolis of the Bahmani Sultans after Ahmad Shah I shifted his capital to Bidar in 1432. Set in Ashtur, these Indo‑Islamic mausoleums feature Persian tilework, Quranic inscriptions, stucco motifs, and collapsed lightning‑struck domes such as Humayun Shah’s tomb. The site hosts Urs festivals annually and overlooks the plateau geography of northern Karnataka.
