Carved in the 6th century under the Early Chalukyas when Badami (Vatapi) was their capital, these sandstone caves overlook Agastya Lake. Dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Jain Tirthankaras, they show early Deccan rock‑cut architecture. Geography: Bagalkot region. Special date: Cave 3 inscription c.578 CE.
