Aurangabad Caves - History details
The Aurangabad Caves are a group of twelve rock-cut Buddhist shrines located on a hill near the city of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) in Maharashtra, India. Carved into basalt rock, these caves showcase ancient Indian rock-cut architecture and Buddhist heritage from the 6th to 8th centuries CE. The site is considered a link between the famous Ajanta and Ellora cave complexes, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
