Arikady Fort ( Kumbla Fort ) - History details

On a lateritic hillock between Kumbala & Shiriya rivers, Arikady (Kumbla) Fort is attributed in records to Ikkeri Hiriya Venkadappa Nayak (c. 1608); later phases saw Mysore/Tipu and British control. Geography: near NH‑66 at Kumbla, with a circular watch‑tower inside. Interesting: 2015 excavations revealed a large hall plus pottery, Chinese ware and lead‑bullet moulds. Special dates: best post‑monsoon for greenery.
