Ancient Shri Keladi Rameshwara Temple, Sagara - History details

Built in the 16th century by Chowdappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayakas, this Dravidian–Hoysala‑influenced temple houses shrines of Shiva (Rameshwara), Parvati and Veerabhadra. Located near Sagara, it features ornate wooden ceilings, mythical motifs, Gandaberunda carvings and a secret passage once used by Keladi rulers. The temple is protected by ASI and lies amid lush Malnad greenery.
