Ajanta Caves - History details
The Ajanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring 30 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments in the Aurangabad district (now officially Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) of Maharashtra, India. Dating from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 CE, the caves are celebrated for their exquisite frescoes and sculptures, which are among the finest examples of ancient Indian art.
