Uppalam Harbour Beach - History details
A local name for the small, less‑touristed shore beside Puducherry’s fishing harbour at Thengaithittu, where the Ariyankuppam River meets the sea. The harbour project, initiated in the late 1980s and inaugurated on 15‑10‑2003, anchors coastal livelihoods and mangrove‑lined boat tours today. The adjacent ‘Marine Beach’ section is a breezy pier‑side viewpoint close to the New Lighthouse—best at sunrise or dusk.
