Sri Ram Sagar Project - History details

Sri Ram Sagar Project, also known as Pochampadu Dam, was built on the Godavari River between 1963 and 1977. Located near Nirmal, it irrigates vast tracts across Telangana and provides drinking water and hydroelectric power, making it a lifeline for the region. The dam spans over 15 km and has a capacity of 112 TMC. It features a 36 MW hydroelectric plant and scenic reservoir ideal for boating. Its engineering marvel and role in agriculture make it a key tourist and economic landmark.
