Sikandra Fort - History details

Sikandra Fort, also known as Akbar’s Tomb, lies about 10 km from Agra city. Built between 1605-1613 by Jahangir, it is a blend of Hindu, Islamic, and Persian architecture. Surrounded by lush Charbagh gardens, the tomb reflects Akbar’s vision of religious harmony. The fort features a five-tiered pyramidal structure of red sandstone topped with white marble. Its grand gateways with minarets and intricate inlay work make it unique among Mughal monuments.
