Old Lighthouse, Puducherry - History details

Built in 1836 by French engineer Louis Guerre, this 29‑m stone lighthouse guided ships with oil lamps later electrified in 1913 and upgraded in 1931. Decommissioned in 1979, it remains a preserved maritime monument on Goubert Avenue overlooking the Bay of Bengal.
