Laxmi Narayan Temple, Chamba - History details

Chamba’s oldest and largest temple complex, the 10th‑century Laxmi Narayan was built by Raja Sahil Varman in North‑Indian shikhara style. Six main shrines (Shaiva and Vaishnava) include a Vishnu idol said to be carved from rare Vindhyachal marble. Timber chhatris and shell‑roofs protect against snow; gilded finials were added in 1678 under Raja Chhatra Singh.
