Kawal Tiger Reserve - History details

Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1965 and declared a tiger reserve in 2012 under Project Tiger, it is Telangana’s first tiger reserve.Spread over 2,015 sq km in Jannaram Mandal, it features dry deciduous forests and serves as a catchment for the Godavari River.Home to tigers, leopards, and over 270 bird species, it is a biodiversity hotspot and a key eco-tourism destination.
