Harike Barrage Indira Gandhi Canal - History details

The Harike Barrage, located in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, is where the Indira Gandhi Canal begins its journey to provide irrigation to the arid regions of Rajasthan. The barrage is built at the confluence of the Beas and Sutlej rivers. It is also the source of the Harike Wetland, a significant wildlife sanctuary and Ramsar site.
