Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, Shimla - History details

Opened 30 May 1887 and designed by architect Henry Irwin, this Gothic Revival theatre formed part of the Town Hall complex on The Ridge. After structural cuts in 1911–12, the original auditorium survived; a major restoration (2003–09) revived spaces for theatre, galleries and an amphitheatre. It remains Shimla’s cultural hub hosting festivals and film shoots.
