Hathi Gaon, or Elephant Village, is a community project near Amber Fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan, established by the government for the welfare of elephants and their caretakers (mahouts). The village provides a safe, natural habitat for the elephants, many of whom have been rescued from circuses and other poor conditions.
