Devarakonda Fort - History details

Built in the 14th century by the Velama kings, Devarakonda Fort served as a strategic hilltop stronghold. Surrounded by seven hills, its granite walls, bastions, and temples reflect medieval military architecture. It once flourished as a cultural hub under Maada Naidu’s reign. The fort offers panoramic views and houses ancient temples of Lord Rama and Shiva. Its unique water reservoir never dried up, even during droughts. Though in ruins today, it attracts trekkers and history enthusiasts for its rugged terrain and architectural brilliance.
