Ramatirtha Crocodile Project - History details
At the foot of Similipal near Jashipur, Ramatirtha is Mayurbhanj’s only mugger crocodile conservation and rearing centre, begun in the 1970s to restore depleted populations. Set beside the Ram Tirtha temple and nature camp, it offers watchtowers, enclosures and river-side habitats where visitors learn about breeding and release programs. Crowds gather around Makar Sankranti/Tusu Parab, while winter safaris showcase Similipal’s forests and calm pools.
