Peruvannamuzhi Dam - History details

Commissioned in 1973 as part of the Kuttiyadi Irrigation Project, Peruvannamuzhi Dam in Kozhikode spans the Kuttiyadi River with auxiliary earth dams. Surrounded by Western Ghats landscapes, it features boating, crocodile and bird sanctuaries and the Smaraka Thottam memorial islands. The reservoir and wildlife sanctuary make it a major eco‑tourism spot today.
