Muniyara Saints Cave - History details

Muniyara refers to megalithic dolmens—stone burial chambers—around Marayoor in Idukki. These structures are attributed to the Megalithic/Neolithic traditions (c. 3000 BCE–500 CE); local lore calls them “saints’ shelters.” The site sits amid sandalwood forests and prehistoric rock-painting zones; sunsets are famed. Best hours: 4:00–5:30 pm for light and views.
