Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary - History details

Established in 1987, Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary spans 180 sq km in the Pir Panjal Range near Gulmarg. Elevations vary widely and support sub‑alpine forests, meadows, and wildlife such as hangul and black bears. Originally a game reserve in 1981, it forms a key ecological corridor surrounding the Gulmarg tourist zone.
